Massage Method One
1. Common Techniques
① Clear Lung Meridian: 300 times.
② Clear Heavenly River Water: 200 times.
③ Use the thumb to push straight from the ulnar border of the wrist toward the palm crease, repeated 100 times.
④ Have the child lie supine. The parent uses the pads of the thumb and index finger to gently rub along both sides of the throat from top to bottom, repeated 200 times.
⑤ Have the child lie prone. The parent uses the base of the palm to push straight along the muscles on both sides of the spine until warmth is felt.
2. Syndrome Differentiation and Additional Treatments
① Wind-Heat Invasion Type: Symptoms include fever with aversion to cold, sore throat with difficulty swallowing, nasal congestion, fatigue, headache, body pain, cough with phlegm, red tongue with thin yellow coating. Add:
a. Retreat Six Fu Organs: 300 times.
b. Press and rub Dazhui (GV14): 300 times.
c. Press and rub Quchi (LI11) and Hegu (LI4), 50 times each.
d. Lift and grasp Jianjing (GB21): 10–20 times.
② Lung and Stomach Heat Excess Type: Symptoms include high fever, intense thirst, obvious sore throat, yellow thick phlegm, abdominal distension, foul breath, drooling, constipation, dark yellow urine, red tongue with yellow coating. Add:
a. Clear Large Intestine: 300 times; Retreat Six Fu Organs: 300 times; Clear Small Intestine: 200 times.
b. Push Yongquan (KI1): 300 times.
c. Push Down Seven Section Bone: 300 times.
d. Press and rub Dazhui (GV14): 1 minute.
③ Yin Deficiency with Fire Prosperity Type: Symptoms include persistent low-grade fever, more pronounced in afternoon, dry throat, mild soreness, worsened by excessive speaking or spicy food, dry cough without phlegm, sensation of foreign body when swallowing, poor mental state, red tongue with little coating. Add:
a. Supplement Kidney Meridian: 300 times; Rotate Inner Labor Palace: 30 times.
b. Push Yongquan (KI1): 300 times.
c. Press and rub Feishu (BL13) and Shenshu (BL23), 1 minute each.
Massage Method Two
1. Common Techniques
① Pinch bilateral Shaoshang (LU11) with thumbnail for 1–2 minutes.
② Press and rub Hegu (LI4) for 1–3 minutes.
③ Point press Taixi (KI3) and Yongquan (KI1), 1 minute each.
④ Rub the thenar eminences bilaterally using the pad of the thumb, repeated 2–5 minutes.
⑤ Use the palm base to rub the lumbar-sacral region until warmth penetrates deeply.
Lifestyle Adjustments
1. The child should rest adequately. Room temperature should not be too high—just enough so they don’t feel cold. Ensure fresh air circulation and avoid smoking indoors to reduce throat irritation.
2. Maintain oral hygiene. Encourage drinking plenty of water or fruit juice to replenish fluids.
3. Avoid taking the child to crowded places like cinemas or shopping malls, especially during outbreaks of respiratory or digestive system diseases.
4. Enhance dietary nutrition to strengthen physical constitution and boost immunity.
5. If during massage, the child suddenly develops high fever, abdominal pain, or early signs of shock, seek medical attention immediately.
