Acupuncture Weight Loss Suitable for Young Women

🔑 Keywords: Other · Acupuncture and Tuina
Acupuncture for weight loss works by stimulating specific acupuncture points to reduce gastric motility, suppress gastric acid secretion, prolong gastric emptying time, promote fat metabolism, and burn stored fat, thereby achieving weight reduction.
Combining acupuncture with dietary control enhances results. Dietary principles include: eat only when hungry, stop when full; consume vegetables and lean meat, eggs, and stop eating once satisfied. Avoid sweets, fatty foods, potatoes, lotus root, and vermicelli. The ideal age range for acupuncture weight loss is 20–40 years. However, individual differences exist. Objectively speaking, some people see little effect from acupuncture weight loss. For those who respond well, the process is gradual. Expecting dramatic slimming after just a few needle insertions is unrealistic.
Acupuncture weight loss is simple, safe, reliable, and minimally painful. Yet why do some patients fail to achieve results even at reputable clinics? Dr. Xie Xincai, Deputy Chief Physician at the Acupuncture Department of Beijing TCM Hospital, explained that patients often overlook key aspects of acupuncture weight loss.
First, ideal candidates are adults who became obese after adulthood. These individuals can more easily adjust their metabolic functions and promote fat breakdown, thus achieving effective weight and lipid reduction. Second, combining acupuncture with dietary control yields better results. The dietary principle remains: eat only when hungry, stop when full; consume vegetables, lean meat, and eggs, stopping when satisfied. Avoid sweets, fatty foods, potatoes, lotus root, and vermicelli. Third, acupuncture weight loss works through the body’s meridian system, activating internal regulatory mechanisms to restore metabolic balance. Therefore, weight gain does not return quickly after stopping acupuncture. The process is gradual—expecting immediate slimming after a few needles is impractical. Fourth, traditional Chinese acupuncture does not advocate “starvation therapy.” Unlike many weight loss methods, acupuncture does not emphasize extreme dietary restriction, especially discouraging starvation. Excessive dieting may lead to anorexia, digestive dysfunction, and serious consequences. Even mild cases can reduce metabolic function, a potential factor contributing to further obesity. Once normal eating resumes, patients may continue gaining weight, possibly becoming heavier than before. This is precisely acupuncture’s greatest advantage.
Dr. Xie said: Acupuncture is a profound science. Patients must seek treatment at legitimate weight-loss clinics, receiving comprehensive, side-effect-free, holistic regulation and therapy to achieve real weight loss. He explained that acupuncture effectively works because of its scientific basis: first, it regulates lipid metabolism. Obese patients typically have elevated levels of peroxidized lipids. By stimulating key weight-loss points, acupuncture lowers these levels and accelerates fat metabolism, achieving weight loss. Second, it corrects abnormal appetite. Through nervous system regulation, it suppresses excessive gastric acid secretion, reducing hunger and fatigue. After acupuncture, gastric emptying slows, making the stomach feel fuller, thus naturally reducing food intake. Third, it effectively regulates endocrine imbalance. Obese patients frequently suffer from endocrine disorders. Postpartum weight gain is not due to overnutrition but to disrupted hormonal balance after childbirth. Similarly, menopausal women experience weight gain due to hormonal imbalance. Acupuncture corrects imbalances in the “hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal cortex” and “sympathetic-adrenal cortex” systems, restoring hormonal equilibrium and accelerating fat metabolism, thus achieving weight loss.
