Longevity Tips – Elderly Home Health Massage

🔑 Keywords: Other · Acupuncture and Tuina
Health massage involves using one’s own hands to knead, pinch, and tap specific body parts or acupoints to promote blood circulation, improve digestion, strengthen tendons and bones, and enhance disease resistance. This massage is simple to learn and convenient to perform, ideal for home care. If elderly people perform it several times daily, they can prevent colds and treat or prevent waist and leg pain.
1. Dry Face Washing: Rub palms together until warm, then mimic washing the face by repeatedly rubbing the face in clockwise and counterclockwise directions until the face feels warm.
2. Scalp Combing: Place fingers flat on both sides of the head, comb the scalp from front to back and from outside to inside like brushing hair.
3. Eye Socket Rubbing: Place thumbs on both sides, at the temples, and index fingers on the orbital rims. Rub and massage from inside out, top to bottom, repeatedly.
4. Temple Rubbing: Place thumbs on both temples and repeatedly press and rub, first clockwise, then counterclockwise.
5. Nasal Root Rubbing: Use thumbs or index fingers to rub up and down on both sides of the nasal root.
6. Fengchi Point Rubbing: Place thumbs on the Fengchi points at the back of the head, with the other four fingers naturally spread on both sides of the head, repeatedly pressing and rubbing.
7. Neck Rubbing: Warm both palms, then rub the back of the neck back and forth until the skin feels warm.
8. Shoulder Pinching: Place one hand on the opposite shoulder, thumb in front, four fingers behind, repeatedly kneading and pinching the shoulder muscles. Alternate sides.
9. Arm Rubbing and Pinching: Place one hand on the opposite arm, repeatedly kneading up and down, first the inner side, then the outer side. Alternate sides.
10. Abdominal Pressing and Rubbing: Stack both hands on the abdomen, repeatedly pressing and rubbing, gradually expanding the range. Start clockwise, then counterclockwise.
11. Waist Tapping: Place both hands on the same-side waist, repeatedly rubbing from top to bottom. Then form fists and repeatedly tap the waist.
12. Calf Pinching: Place one calf on the opposite thigh, thumbs inward, fingers outward, repeatedly kneading up and down. Alternate sides.
13. Foot Rubbing and Pinching: Place one calf on the opposite thigh, one hand supporting the heel, the other hand repeatedly kneading the sole. Alternate sides.
Precautions:
1. Massage is usually performed in a seated position. Before starting, sit quietly for a moment and fully relax the body.
2. Adjust massage intensity according to personal comfort—lighter on the face, slightly heavier on limbs and waist.
3. You may perform the entire routine or select several exercises. Generally, it is best to massage the face in the morning upon waking and the whole body before bedtime.
