Specialized Trauma Technique – Percussion Method
Method:
Clasp both hands tightly, palms facing each other, wrists straight, arms fully tensed. Bend elbows to approximately 70°. With a small range of motion (about 10°) of elbow extension/flexion, rapidly alternate striking the upper and lower edges of the patella for about 10 seconds—this is the percussion method.
Technique:
Gradually increase force from light to heavy, then decrease from heavy to light. The strike should produce a rebound sensation.
Effect:
Stimulates tendons and meridians, enhances circulation of tissue fluid.
