Acupuncture and Massage Therapy for Wry Neck
① Join the middle, index, and ring fingers of either hand, and locate tender points on the neck (commonly found in the sternocleidomastoid and trapezius muscles). Gently knead and press for about 5 minutes, alternating hands.
② Use the ulnar side of the hand to briskly strike the neck and shoulder area from top to bottom and back again for about 2 minutes.
③ Pinch and grasp the Fengchi and Jianjing acupoints on both sides with the thumb and index finger for 1–2 minutes.
④ Press the Wry Neck acupoint (between the second and third metacarpal bones on the back of the hand, 5 fen behind the interphalangeal joint) using the thumb or index finger. Continue pressing for 2–3 minutes after a sensation of soreness and distension arises.
⑤ Finally, perform slow, controlled movements of the head and neck: flexion, extension, lateral bending, and rotation. Avoid sudden or forceful movements.
