Self-Massage for Menstrual Irregularity
Menstrual irregularity is a general term for female menstrual disorders, referring to pathological changes in menstrual cycle, volume, color, and consistency. It includes early menstruation (premature periods), late menstruation (delayed periods), irregular cycles, metrorrhagia, menorrhagia, amenorrhea, excessive menstrual flow, and dark purple menstrual blood. When combined with specialized treatment, self-massage often yields remarkable results. This method is simple to perform and easy to master.
First, lie supine. Use the fish际 of the right hand to rub the Qihai point on the abdomen for about 1 minute, then use the fingertip of the right thumb to press and stimulate the Sanyinjiao points on both lower limbs sequentially, pressing each point for 1 minute. Finally, use one palm to massage the lower abdomen for about 1 minute.
Then switch to prone position. First, use both palms to repeatedly massage the lumbar-sacral region for 2 minutes. Then use both thumbs to press and stimulate the Shenshu, Mingmen, and Baliao points sequentially, each for 30 times, aiming for a sensation of soreness and distension. Finally, use both hands’ fingers to lift and pinch the bilateral Shenshu points three times each. Procedure ends.
Note: Self-massage performed before or after menstruation yields better results.
