Acupressure Health Care for Early Cataracts
Age-related cataracts result from degeneration of the eye lens in older adults, impaired cellular metabolism, reduced lens transparency, opacification, and gradually worsening blurred vision—a common chronic eye disease. As age increases, incidence rises, greatly affecting patients’ work and daily life.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is known as "round clouded internal obstruction," primarily caused by aging, physical decline, liver-kidney deficiency, insufficient essence and blood, or spleen deficiency impairing transportation, preventing nourishment of the eyes. For early-stage age-related cataracts, health-preserving acupressure can significantly slow disease progression and improve vision.
1. Use both middle fingers to stroke the eyebrow ridge 5–8 times.
2. Rapidly rub both hands to generate heat, then quickly place them over the eyes, repeating 4–5 times until the eyes feel warm and comfortable.
3. Bend both thumbs and gently rub the upper eyelids with the joint backs 10–20 times.
4. Pinch and pull the Yintang point between the eyebrows using the thumb and index finger.
5. Massage the Taiyang, Sibai, Qingming, and Fengchi acupoints with fingers.
6. Grasp and knead the neck area with five fingers.
7. Finally, rotate both eyes left and right about a dozen times.
