Vitality-Enhancing Yang-Strengthening Techniques

Daoyin (guiding and pulling) techniques have a long history, already documented over two thousand years ago. The *Suwen·Xueqi Xingzhi Pian* states: “When meridians are blocked, illness arises from numbness; treatment involves massage and medicated wine.” Daoyin Yi Jing Fa (Daoyin for enhancing essence) is a method using guiding techniques to invigorate sexual function. Centuries of practice confirm its powerful rejuvenating effect.
Moxibustion for Kidney Essence Enhancement
The kidneys govern storage of essence, serving as the source of growth, development, and reproduction, and the foundation of life—thus called the “root of innate constitution” in TCM. Promoting blood and qi circulation in the kidneys through massage helps achieve abundant kidney essence.
One: Side-lying Kidney Rubbing Technique
① Lie supine with eyes closed, hands clenched at sides, exhale through mouth, inhale through nose. ② Roll onto left side, rub palms together until warm. Place right hand on the lumbar spine, rub vertically over the right kidney area 30 times. ③ Roll onto right side, repeat the same motion on the left side. Steps ① to ③ constitute one round; repeat 3–5 times.
Two: Immersion Kidney Rubbing Technique
① Sit immersed in a bathtub, legs extended straight or bent in a seated position. Bring right hand behind, use thumb and index finger to rub the backside of the right kidney area 30 times. ② Repeat 30 times on the left side. ③ Then place both palms directly on kidney areas and rub up and down for over 30 times. Repeat 3–5 times.
Three: Abdominal Pressure Technique
Strengthening bladder function is most effective through abdominal pressure. Especially focus on massaging the area below the navel. If combined with techniques one and two, results become more significant.
Four: Urethral Exercise – Groin Friction Method
① Lie supine with eyes closed, hands clenched at sides, slowly exhale through mouth, inhale through nose. ② Rub palms together until warm, then rub the groin area (ankle region) 30 times. One round consists of these 30 strokes; repeat 3–5 rounds. Though primarily aimed at restoring sexual function, this method also treats organ dysfunction.
Moxibustion for Liver and Kidney Enhancement
The liver and kidneys reside in the lower jiao and share a common origin (Jia Gui). The liver stores blood, the kidneys store essence; essence and blood mutually generate. The liver’s meridians have close ties to reproductive organs. The *Lingshu·Jingmai Pian* says: “The Foot Jueyin Meridian… runs along the inner thigh, enters the pubic hair, passes through the genitalia.” It also notes: “The tendons of the Foot Jueyin… when diseased, result in impaired genital function.” Thus, strengthening the liver and tendons can enhance sexual function.
One: Friction for Liver Strengthening
① Lie supine with eyes closed, thumbs interlocked inside, hands at sides, slowly exhale through mouth, inhale through nose. ② Rub palms until warm, then use right hand to rub the lower left ribcage 30 times. ③ Use left hand to rub the lower right ribcage 30 times. Steps ① to ③ make one round; repeat 3–5 times.
Two: Pressure for Liver Strengthening
① Sit immersed in a tub, knees bent. Join eight fingers except thumbs, press against the left ribcage near the stomach edge, fingers pointing inward, fingertips curled, pushing the flesh between stomach and ribs inward. Inhale through nose, then release and exhale through mouth. ② Move fingertips slightly backward along the ribs, placing two index fingers on the center of the ribcage. As described, press inward with fingertips until they can enter the inner side of the ribcage, inhaling through nose. ③ Release pressure and exhale. Move hands outward, bring fingertips together and press against the lower left ribcage near the flank, pushing the abdomen inward. Inhale through nose. Then release fingertips from the inner side of the abdominal wall and exhale through mouth.
Steps ① to ③ involve pressing the abdomen inward along the ribs from the stomach toward the flanks, repeating 3 times. One full cycle consists of these movements; repeat 3–5 times. After completing the left side, perform the same on the right side. Ensure equal number of repetitions, but always begin with the left.
Additionally, apply slight pressure when pushing inward. Initially, push 1 cm deep; gradually increase to 2–3 cm as tolerance improves. Initial inability to penetrate indicates stiff internal organs.
Healthy organs are soft and elastic. With consistent practice, stiffness disappears within one week to two months. Softness indicates recovery. The body will naturally sense improvement.
If pain or discomfort occurs, stop immediately. Begin with Technique One, continue for two weeks to one month until liver and internal organs recover, then proceed to this technique.
