TCM Therapy for Erectile Dysfunction and Sexual Health

🔑 Keywords: Other · TCM Health Care
Erectile dysfunction refers to a male's inability to achieve or sustain an erection sufficient for vaginal penetration, thus impairing normal sexual activity. Causes are numerous: psychological factors account for about 85–90%, while organic causes make up only 10–15%. Organic causes often stem from underlying diseases such as genital deformities, congenital bilateral testicular deficiency, hypogonadism, prostatitis, neurological disorders, lead poisoning, urinary or reproductive system diseases, mumps, phimosis, etc., all capable of triggering erectile dysfunction. For cases caused by organic factors, proper medical diagnosis and treatment usually result in spontaneous recovery. Psychological causes mainly include incorrect views on sex, long-term frequent masturbation, lack of sexual knowledge, mental stress, deep depression, or marital discord.
For psychological erectile dysfunction, treatment primarily involves psychological counseling to relieve mental burdens and help patients acquire correct sexual knowledge. Patients should eliminate fears, anxieties, worries, and tension related to intercourse. Couples should communicate openly, foster mutual understanding, and wives should be attentive and affectionate toward their husbands, jointly creating a favorable sexual atmosphere. Thus, erectile dysfunction due to psychological factors can gradually resolve.
Life Adjustment:
1. Maintain a cheerful mood, live regularly, moderate sexual activity, and quit masturbation. Actively treat related urogenital and endocrine conditions. Alleviate mental stress and build confidence.
2. Encourage open communication between spouses to reduce the husband’s psychological pressure.
Traditional Chinese Medicine Green Therapy:
1. Stand with feet together, press soles firmly into the ground, squeeze legs inward, inhale deeply, then contract the anus and testes, clench fists, hold breath after full inhalation, touch the upper palate with the tongue and keep it still, hold until maximum capacity, then exhale slowly, release the tongue, and fully relax. Repeat this sequence three times daily, each session lasting 5–7 minutes.
2. Stand naturally, use four fingers to rub the Shenshu acupoints (Kidney Bladder Points) up and down, side to side, until warmth spreads across the back. Then rotate the waist left and right.
3. Warm palms, alternately rub both testicles, once in the morning and once in the evening, each session lasting 8–10 minutes.
Self-Massage:
(1) Press the Huiyin point (between scrotum and anus) with the middle finger tip 30–50 times until a sensation of soreness and distension occurs. Perform once in the morning and once in the evening.
(2) Press the navel (Qihai point) with the thumb 30–50 times.
(3) Massage the lower abdomen and entire abdomen clockwise and counterclockwise 100 times each, then push palms from both sides of ribs toward the navel 50 times.
(4) Rub and knead the Yaoyan (lumbosacral points), Yaoshi (lumbar spine), and Zhiwei (sacral region) areas 50 times, until local skin feels warm.
(5) Clasp hands under the scrotum and penis, massage gently for 5 minutes, pull the glans outward several times, then massage again. Repeat three times.
(6) Use the fingertip to press and tap Juegu (four horizontal fingers above outer ankle) and Sanyinjiao (four horizontal fingers above inner ankle), 5 minutes per point, twice daily.
4. Yang-Enhancing and Essence-Strengthening Method:
(1) Rub Yongquan (Bubbling Spring) points: Sit cross-legged, warm hands, rub back and forth over Sanyinjiao 20–30 times, then rub each Yongquan point 81 times, focusing attention on Yongquan.
(2) Massage Shenshu points: Use both palms to perform circular massage on Shenshu points 30 times, until skin feels warm.
(3) Shake the scrotum: Lie semi-supine, support the penis with one hand, use index, middle, and ring fingers of the other hand to lift the scrotum and shake up and down 100–200 times, switch hands and repeat, gradually increasing force.
(4) Unblock Ren and Du meridians: Rub the testicles and penis 100 times with both hands.
(5) Lift the yang root: Place one palm on Dantian (lower abdomen), grasp the penis with the other hand, lift upward, downward, left, and right 100 times each.
(6) Strengthen the divine whip: Hold the penis between both palms (glans exposed), gradually increase pressure, rub back and forth 100–200 times.
Other Methods: According to TCM dietary therapy, animal kidneys (especially lamb kidney), dog meat, beef, river/sea shrimp, sparrows, sea cucumber, oysters, mutton, walnuts, leeks, sea snails, yam, lotus seeds, black sesame seeds, black beans, peanuts, etc., have yang-strengthening effects. However, I do not recommend this approach because although meat provides nourishment and may temporarily improve symptoms, it also stimulates sexual desire, which is detrimental to long-term recovery. On the contrary, for those studying TCM sexual health, I advise minimizing or avoiding meat during training, focusing instead on mastering TCM sexual health techniques. Only after achieving visible results should dietary choices be adjusted flexibly.
