Use Plastic Wrap to Keep Lips Moist and Fresh
With autumn approaching, dry lips become increasingly problematic. Dr. Hayano from the Double Leaf Beauty Clinic in Japan explains that due to air pollution and lipstick use, modern women’s lips tend to become drier. Many carry lip balms constantly, but most only provide temporary relief and create dependency on lip balm.
Dr. Hayano shares a simple home remedy superior to constant lip balm application: Apply a plain lip balm (preferably without fragrance) to lips, then cover with kitchen plastic wrap—similar to a facial mask technique. Leave on for about 15 minutes. Repeat this routine for roughly two weeks, and natural moisture retention in lips will return.
However, Dr. Hayano warns that since mouth breathing is impossible during this process, it shouldn’t be used when suffering from a cold. Also, avoid licking dry lips—this accelerates evaporation of surface moisture, making lips drier and potentially cracked.
