Broad-Spectrum Remedy: Verbena Herb

Verbena herb, also known as Iron Whip, White Whip, or Malaria Whip, named after its whip-like inflorescence. It is the whole herb or root of the perennial herb Verbena officinalis from the Verbenaceae family. Widely distributed across China. Has functions of clearing heat and detoxifying, interrupting malaria, killing parasites, treating dysentery, promoting urination and reducing swelling, unblocking menstruation and resolving stasis. Therefore, clinically used for various conditions.
1. For common cold and epidemic parotitis: 45 grams of verbena herb, decoct in water, divide into two doses, take continuously for four days.
2. For malaria: 60–120 grams of verbena herb, decoct in water, extract concentrated juice of 300 ml. Take 150 ml 4 hours and 2 hours before malaria attack, twice daily, continue for 5–7 days.
3. For diphtheria: Fresh verbena herb 60 grams, wash, crush into juice, add a little rice vinegar, divide into two doses, take several consecutive doses, significant effect soon appears.
4. For whooping cough: 500 grams of verbena herb, 60 grams of honey. First decoct verbena herb into thick broth, then concentrate with honey. For children under 3 years old, take 1 spoonful, three times daily, with warm water. Adjust dosage according to age.
5. For dysentery: Fresh verbena herb 60 grams, 15 grams of earthworm root, decoct in water, divide into three doses, continue until cured.
6. For hepatitis: 30 grams each of verbena herb, Lysimachia christinae, and Plantago asiatica, decoct in water, divide into 2–3 doses, take continuously for 2–3 weeks.
7. For edema: 30 grams each of verbena herb and sweet potato wine, 60 grams of red sugar, decoct in water, divide into three doses, stop when swelling subsides.
8. For hematuria: 45 grams each of verbena herb and white rush root, decoct in water, divide into 3–4 doses, take continuously for 3–6 days.
9. For acute and chronic pelvic inflammatory disease: 30 grams each of verbena herb, Houttuynia cordata, and Chrysanthemum indicum, decoct in water, divide into three doses. If no improvement after 3 doses, add 30 grams each of Taraxacum mongolicum and Coix lacryma-jobi, decoct and take.
10. For carbuncles and abscesses: Fresh verbena herb 60 grams, decoct in water, divide into two doses. Additionally, use fresh verbena herb as needed, mix with a little sugar, crush into paste, apply directly to affected area, change daily.
11. For early-stage mastitis: 30 grams each of verbena herb and Salvia miltiorrhiza, 18 grams of Hedyotis diffusa, decoct in water, divide into three doses, take continuously for 3–5 days—markedly effective.
12. For amenorrhea: 60 grams of verbena herb, 30 grams of yellow wine, decoct in water, divide into two doses, take before meals, stop when menstruation resumes.
13. For retained lochia after childbirth: 30 grams of verbena herb, 15 grams of Eupatorium fortunei, both ground into powder, mix evenly. Take 6–9 grams each time, with rice porridge water, twice to three times daily.
14. For postpartum fever: 60 grams each of verbena herb and dried Achyranthes bidentata, decoct in water, divide into three doses. For severe cases, take two doses daily.<Verbena Herb>
