To treat gray hair, besides medication, the following simple methods can be used:
Scalp Massage: Rub the scalp daily before sleeping and upon waking. Start from the forehead, across the crown to the back of the head, massaging 2–4 minutes each time, moving back and forth 30–40 times per minute. Gradually extend to 5–10 minutes per session. Consistent practice over 3–4 years may restore full black hair. Scalp massage significantly improves blood circulation and is beneficial for elderly health.
Dietary Formulas
Wash black beans thoroughly and repeatedly steam and sun-dry them. Store in a porcelain jar. Consume twice daily, 6 grams each time, chew and swallow with diluted salt water. Additionally, eat one egg and two walnut kernels daily. Persistent use yields results.
Take 12 large walnuts, remove shells and inner membranes, roast and chop the walnut meat. Prepare 60 grams each of goji berries and Polygonum multiflorum, and 240 grams of small beans or black soybeans.
First, boil goji berries and Polygonum multiflorum with water until concentrated. Filter out the residue. Then add the roasted chopped walnut meat and black beans to the liquid, reboil until the walnut meat is soft and the liquid is fully absorbed by the beans. Cool and dry (or dry at low temperature) before consumption. Take twice daily, 6–9 grams each time, preferably on empty stomach or when hungry.
Take 1000 grams of fresh mulberries (or 500 grams dried) and wash thoroughly. Add appropriate water and boil, extracting liquid every 30 minutes. Repeat twice. Combine both extracts and reduce slowly over low heat until thick and sticky. Add 300 grams of honey, boil until dissolved, then cool and bottle. Take one tablespoon each time, dissolve in boiling water, drink twice daily.
Take 1000 grams of walnut kernels, soak in cold water for 3 days, remove skins and tips. Add sugar to a pan, melt, then stir into walnut kernels. Cool before eating. Consume twice daily, 10 grams each time.
Grind 250 grams each of black sesame seeds and fresh mulberries, mix with a little honey, store in a bottle. Take one tablespoon each time, wash down with plain water, three times daily.
Rice Water Fermentation Hair Washing Method: Collect the water left after rinsing rice, let the sediment settle at the bottom, store for 3 days until fermented and slightly sour. Use this liquid to rub and massage hair, then rinse clean. Use daily. Long-term use helps turn gray hair black and provides moisturizing and shiny hair benefits.
Soybean Decoction: Cook soybeans in rice vinegar until soft, strain and reduce to thick consistency. Apply to hair to darken and blacken it, turning gray hair black.
250 grams black beans, 30 ginkgo nuts, grind and roast. 100 grams black sesame seeds, 150 grams Polygonum multiflorum, roast. Mix all four ingredients and store in a bottle. Take 30 grams after breakfast daily.
Folk Remedy: Take 40 grams each of black beans, black sesame seeds, jujubes, Polygonum multiflorum, cooked rehmannia, 10 grams each of Angelica sinensis and Ligusticum chuanxiong. Soak in 750 ml 60-degree rice wine for 15–20 days. Take 10 ml orally three times daily. Di Huang San: 2500 grams raw Rehmannia glutinosa, 250 grams Acanthopanax bark, 250 grams Achyranthes root. Remove Achyranthes roots, soak Rehmannia in wine overnight, dry after sun-drying. Steam and sun-dry nine times. Grind into fine powder, sieve into a loose powder. Take 10 grams daily on an empty stomach with warm wine (can also be taken with porridge). Avoid raw scallions, radishes, garlic. Combined, these three medicines nourish blood and qi, benefit liver and kidneys, strengthen tendons and bones, promote health and longevity, turning gray hair black and boosting vitality.
