King of Health-Giving Fruits: Papaya
King of Health-Giving Fruits: Papaya
Papaya is famously known as the "King of Health-Giving Fruits."
In Li Shizhen's *Compendium of Materia Medica*, papaya is described as warm in nature and sour in taste, capable of soothing the liver, harmonizing the stomach, relaxing tendons and ligaments, activating joints, and lowering blood pressure.
Modern medicine confirms that papaya contains papain, ficin, rennin, beta-carotene, and over seventeen amino acids, along with various nutrients. Among them, oleanolic acid—a compound found in papaya—has protective effects on the liver, lowers enzymes, fights inflammation and bacteria, and reduces lipid levels.
Research also shows that papaya can inhibit the synthesis of carcinogenic nitrosamines in the human body. The vitamin C content in papaya is 48 times higher than that in apples! Regular consumption offers benefits such as soothing the liver and stomach, relaxing tendons and improving circulation, softening blood vessels, fighting infection and inflammation, anti-aging and beautifying skin, preventing cancer, and enhancing physical strength. It is a nutritious fruit with countless benefits and no harm.
Below is a method to enjoy papaya:
One: Ingredients: One Hawaiian papaya or one Guangdong papaya, soaked silver ear fungus, lotus seeds, lily bulbs, longan flesh, and a small amount of goji berries.
Two: Preparation: Halve the selected papaya and scoop out the black seeds. Place the prepared ingredients (washed and drained) into the papaya halves.
Steam over high heat for 15 minutes.
The papaya is sweet, tender, and fragrant. The gel-like substance in silver ear fungus provides nourishment and a pleasant texture. Lotus seeds calm the mind and spirit, historically a staple in imperial concubines’ diets.
Lily bulbs have high nutritional value, rich in starch, protein, fat, carbohydrates, and minerals like calcium, phosphorus, and iron, with a unique fragrance unmatched by other foods...
Combined with the nourishing effects of longan flesh and goji berries, this dessert becomes refreshingly delicious and irresistible!
