Six Methods to Treat Cold

1. When suffering from cold-related headache, place a clean towel in a basin, soak it with hot water, squeeze slightly, lay flat over the patient’s eyes, nose, or neck area (e.g., Fengchi acupoint), which can alleviate symptoms.
2. 25 milliliters of red wine, pour into a pot and boil to evaporate alcohol, then beat in one egg, stir well, add one spoon of sugar. When consuming, dilute with hot water, cover up and rest. Next day, symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, and sore throat significantly improve or disappear. Some people see results after just one dose.
3. One pear, 25 grams of ginger, both sliced thinly, add one bowl of water, decoct and drink all at once. Effective on the same day. Also, use 100 grams of green onion whites and three slices of ginger, decoct or steep in boiling water. Alternatively, use 20 grams of green onion whites, five slices of ginger, one spoon of sugar, a small amount of tea leaves, and one bowl of water, decoct and drink.
4. 20 peanut shells, three stalks of large green onion (with roots), wash thoroughly, place in a pot, add sufficient cold water, bring to boil, then simmer for 15 minutes, filter out the liquid, drink while hot, immediately cover up and wear extra clothes to induce slight sweating. If vomiting or nausea occurs, add four slices of ginger and decoct together. If there is sore throat or cough, add several slices of pear during decoction.
5. Apply Musk Pain Relief Plaster or Musk Wind-Relieving Plaster (or alternative: Moisture-Relieving Pain-Relieving Plaster) externally for various types of colds. Method: Cut two 5×5 cm pieces of musk plaster, sprinkle a small amount of medicine powder from Quick-Acting Cold Capsules evenly onto each, then apply directly to the Yongquan points (Bubbling Spring) on both feet. Change daily, massage for 2–3 minutes. Most common colds improve or resolve within 1–3 days.
6. Some people who have a cold but refuse medication can use the wine bath method. Wipe areas such as behind the ears, sides of the neck, armpits, inner arms, wrists, inner thighs, inner knees, sides of ankles, and soles of feet with gauze soaked in high-proof alcohol, rubbing back and forth 30–40 times. Then cover up and sleep. This method is particularly suitable for pregnant women with colds who cannot take medication.
