Empirical Formula for Ankylosing Spondylitis
Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic progressive disease primarily affecting the spine and occasionally involving peripheral joints. Early symptoms are mostly low back pain and swelling/pain in large lower limb joints. The etiology remains unclear, treatment efficacy is uncertain, the course is prolonged, and disability rates are high; complete cure remains a global challenge. Through long-term clinical practice, I have used self-formulated Zhuang Du Chu Bi Decoction to treat multiple patients with good results, hereby presented.
Composition: Taxillus 15 g, Thousand-Year Health 15 g, Chaenomeles 15 g, Radix Cyathulae 15 g, Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae 15 g, Eucommia 15 g, Du Zhong 15 g, Deer Antler Slice (pre-decocted) 10 g, Bungarus 10 g, Raw Licorice 6 g.
Usage: Boil deer antler slice over strong fire for 10 minutes first, then add other herbs soaked for about 15 minutes and appropriate water into a clay pot. Continue boiling over strong fire, then simmer over low fire for 20 minutes. Strain and take the decoction twice daily after meals. If no significant adverse reactions occur during medication, continuous use for 3 months is recommended.
