Four Methods for Treating Prolonged Menstrual Periods
Prolonged Menstrual Period
Prolonged menstruation refers to a menstrual cycle that remains basically normal but lasts more than seven days, or even continues for half a month before stopping.
This condition may arise from deficiency or excess. Excess types often stem from blood stasis obstructing Chong and Ren vessels, preventing new blood from returning to its course. Deficiency types mostly result from yin deficiency with internal heat disturbing the blood sea, thus prolonging menstruation.
[Formula One]
60 grams each of young thistle (whole plant) and motherwort. Wash both, boil together in water, filter out residue, then reboil until thickened. Consume.
This formula is suitable for prolonged menstruation due to blood stasis.
[Formula Two]
100 grams of fresh rose petals, 400 grams of flour, 3 eggs, 200 milliliters of milk, 100 grams of sugar, a pinch of refined salt, 50 grams of salad oil, appropriate yeast. Separate egg whites and yolks. Mix yolks with sugar and milk, stir well, add flour, oil, salt, yeast, lightly mix into batter. Beat egg whites until foamy, then fold into batter. Soak petals in sugar for half an hour, mix into batter. Spoon batter into hot oil (medium temperature) and deep-fry until crisp. Consume as breakfast or dinner or snack.
This formula is suitable for prolonged menstruation due to blood stasis.
[Formula Three]
30 grams each of fresh rehmannia, processed polygonatum, and glutinous rice. Boil fresh rehmannia and polygonatum, filter out residue, extract juice, then cook with glutinous rice into porridge.
This formula is suitable for prolonged menstruation due to yin deficiency with internal heat.
[Formula Four]
15 grams each of ophiopogon tuber and lily bulb, 12 grams of white rush root. Boil in water, drink as tea.
This formula is suitable for prolonged menstruation due to yin deficiency with internal heat.
