Trichosanthes Cake
[Ingredients] 200 grams Trichosanthes fruit, 600 grams flour, 75 grams sugar, appropriate amount of water.
[Preparation] Remove seeds from Trichosanthes, place in a pan, add a little water and 100 grams sugar, simmer over low heat until forming a filling. Prepare 750 grams flour with water, ferment, add alkali, knead into dough sheets. Sandwich the Trichosanthes filling between two sheets, shape into cakes, then bake or steam until cooked.

[Function] Moistens lungs, transforms phlegm, disperses nodules, and broadens the chest. Suitable for lung cancer with chest pain.
[Comment] Trichosanthes contains triterpenoid saponins, organic acids, resins, sugars, pigments, etc. In vitro anticancer experiments show that whole Trichosanthes decoction has anticancer activity. Research indicates that Trichosanthes peel has stronger anticancer effects than Trichosanthes seed, while seed coat and fatty oil are ineffective.
