Polygonatum Heart

[Ingredients] Polygonatum 50 grams, pig heart 500 grams, ginger, green onion, Sichuan pepper, salt, sugar, monosodium glutamate, sesame oil as needed.
[Method] 1. Wash polygonatum, cut into sections, slightly moisten with water, decoct twice, collect 800 grams of liquid. 2. Split and wash pig heart thoroughly, remove blood, combine with decoction, ginger, green onion, Sichuan pepper, simmer over medium heat until pig heart is about 60% cooked, then remove and cool. 3. Place pig heart in braising liquid, simmer gently until fully cooked, remove and wipe off foam. Add appropriate amount of braising liquid to pan, include salt, sugar, MSG, and sesame oil, heat into thick sauce, evenly coat both inside and outside the pig heart.
[Usage] Two times daily, served with meals.
[Benefits] Calms spirit, soothes heart, nourishes yin, generates body fluids.
[Indications] Coronary heart disease, arrhythmia, dry cough and thirst due to yin deficiency after febrile illness.
[Note] Polygonatum is sweet, mild, moistening and smooth, nourishes yin and moistens lungs, generates fluids and nourishes stomach, especially effective for dry-heat due to lung and stomach yin deficiency. Though its action is gentle, it does not cause stagnation or blockage, suitable for dry cough with sticky phlegm, chronic cough due to yin deficiency, also applicable to yin deficiency with external pathogenic invasion causing fever and cough, sore throat, thirst, and even for gastric yin injury with dry tongue and poor appetite, diabetes. However, due to slow onset, larger dosage is recommended.
