How Does Traditional Chinese Medicine Treat Dead Sperm Syndrome?
Traditional Chinese medicine believes dead sperm syndrome relates to kidney qi deficiency, yin deficiency with hyperactivity of fire, qi and blood insufficiency, and latent heat in the seminal chamber.
(1) Kidney Qi Deficiency: Symptoms include dizziness, forgetfulness, soreness in the waist and knees, low libido, weak ejaculation, fatigue, frequent urination, nocturia, pale tongue, thin white coating, fine weak pulse. Treatment aims to tonify the kidneys and nourish essence. Use Shengjing Zibao Tang with modifications (Xianlingpi, Tusizi, Chuanxuduan, He Shou Wu, Gouqizi, Sangshenzi, Fupanzi, Wuweizi). Since essence and blood originate from the same source, add Huangqi and Danggui to tonify qi and nourish blood. When qi and blood are sufficient, kidney essence will naturally flourish. If kidney qi deficiency progresses further, leading to kidney yang deficiency, add Yangqishi and Bajitian to warm and tonify kidney yang. Adding one pair of mountain goat testes, based on homologous affinity, greatly enhances the effect of nourishing essence and filling marrow.
(2) Yin Deficiency with Hyperactivity of Fire: Symptoms include dizziness, tinnitus, soreness in the waist and knees, five palms feeling hot, dry mouth and throat, night sweats, red tongue with little or no coating, fine rapid pulse. Treatment aims to nourish yin and reduce fire. Use Dabuyin Wan with modifications (Zhimu, Huangbo, Shudi, Guiban, Xuduan, Gouqi, Tusizi, Goujixue, Huangjing), combined with vitamin E supplementation.
(3) Qi and Blood Deficiency: Symptoms include fatigue, pale complexion, listlessness, spontaneous sweating, average appetite, pale tongue with little coating, weak pulse. Treatment aims to tonify qi and nourish blood. Use Danggui Buxue Tang (Huangqi, Danggui, Renshen, Baizhu, Shengdi, Baishaoyao, Shudi, Fuling).
(4) Latent Heat in the Seminal Chamber: Symptoms include heaviness and distension in the lower abdomen, testicular pain, burning sensation during urination, post-urination white discharge, some patients have no subjective symptoms, only detected by semen analysis showing excessive dead sperm, or hematospermia, red tongue with yellow greasy coating, string-like rapid pulse. Treatment aims to clear latent heat and promote kidney essence production. Use Zhi Bai Di Huang Tang with modifications (Zhimu, Huangbo, Shengdi, Tufuling, Yinhua, Shan Yurou, Gouqizi, Chuanxuduan, Chibai Shao, Maogen, Cheqianzi).<Dead Sperm Syndrome>
