One section of fresh lotus root, one pear. Wash the lotus root, remove the nodes and outer skin, peel and core the pear, chop finely, extract juice separately using clean gauze, combine both juices and drink as tea. Raw lotus root and cooked lotus root have different effects: cooked lotus root is sweet and warm, best for heart and spleen, strengthens the spleen, opens the appetite, nourishes blood, and benefits the heart; raw lotus root is sweet and cold, clears heat, relieves irritability, cools blood, and disperses stasis. Both have calming effects. This formula uses raw lotus root to clear heat and calm the spirit, combined with pear juice which clears heat and resolves phlegm, forming a formula that clears heat, resolves phlegm, and calms the spirit.
