Polygonatum Porridge
Recipe composition: 15–30 grams of Polygonatum (or 30–60 grams fresh), 2 liang (about 100 grams) of glutinous rice, and appropriate amount of sugar.
Therapeutic effects: Tonifies spleen and stomach, moistens heart and lungs. Suitable for spleen and stomach weakness, fatigue, reduced appetite, dry cough due to lung deficiency, or dry cough without phlegm, and hemoptysis due to pulmonary tuberculosis.
Cooking method: Use clean Polygonatum (15–30 grams), boil to extract concentrated juice, filter out residue. Or use fresh Polygonatum (30–60 grams), wash and slice, boil to extract concentrated juice, filter, then cook with glutinous rice. Add sugar when porridge is ready.
Precautions: Use for 3–5 days as a course, take twice daily. Not suitable for those with excessive phlegm and dampness, sticky mouth, thick greasy tongue coating, or spleen-stomach cold deficiency with loose stools. Stop immediately if chest tightness or breathlessness occurs after consumption.
