Sugarcane Porridge
Recipe composition: 100–150 ml of sugarcane juice, 1–2 liang (about 50–100 grams) of glutinous rice.
Therapeutic effects: Clears heat, generates body fluids, nourishes yin, and moistens dryness. Suitable for recovery phase of febrile illness, with irritability and thirst due to fluid deficiency, dry cough from lung dryness, and constipation due to intestinal dryness.
Cooking method: Use fresh sugarcane, extract juice (about 100–150 ml), dilute with water, then cook with glutinous rice to make porridge.
Precautions: Best cooked thin rather than thick. During high fever with fluid depletion and dry mouth, drink this thin sugarcane porridge freely as needed.
