Common Moisturizing Formula 2

Two pairs of lamb kidneys (remove fat and membranes, cut open, roasted dry), 30 grams each of ginseng (without root head), white poria (Bai Fu Ling), and white atractylodes (Bai Zhu); 60–90 grams each of cinnamon twig (Gui Xin) and prepared rehmannia (Shu Gan Dihuang); 9 grams each of cistanche (Rou Cong Rong, soaked overnight in wine, scrape off wrinkled skin, roasted dry), angelica (Dang Gui), and cicada (She Chuan Zi); 45 grams each of zhu xiao (Ji Ke, stir-fried with bran until slightly scorched, remove pulp), shan yao (Chinese yam), astragalus (Huang Qi), ze xie (Alisma), shan yu (Cornus), white peony root (Bai Shao), Wu Zhu Yu (soaked in water seven times, dried, slightly stir-fried); 45 grams each of tu si zi (morning glory seeds, soaked in wine for three days, sun-dried, separately ground into powder), she ru (deer musk, remove hair, coat with butter, roast slightly yellow), yuan zhi (remove heart), fu zi (roasted, remove skin and umbilicus), mu dan pi (peony bark), shi hu (dendrobium, remove roots, cut into small pieces), niu xi (achyranthes, remove stems), he zi (harmonized fruit, baked with skin); all ground into fine powder, mixed with refined honey and pounded 300–500 times, formed into pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 30 pills daily on an empty stomach with warm wine.
