Chronic simple rhinitis mostly results from deficiency of lung and spleen qi with pathogenic factors obstructing nasal passages; treatment principle is to strengthen spleen and boost qi, expel pathogens, and open nasal passages.
For cases primarily involving lung qi deficiency: symptoms include cough with thin phlegm, shortness of breath, pale complexion, pale red tongue, thin white coating, and slow or floating weak pulse. Treatment should tonify lung qi and dispel wind to open nasal passages. Formula: Wen Fei Zhi Liu Dan with modifications: Xi Xin 3g, Jing Jie 10g, Ren Shen 15g, Gan Cao 10g, He Zi 6g, Ju Geng 10g, Yu Nao Shi 15g, Wu Wei Zi 6g, Bai Zhu 10g, Bei Qi 15g.<Jian Bi>
