Eight Chinese Patent Medicines Shown Effective Against SARS

Eight Chinese patent medicines have been experimentally confirmed to have certain therapeutic effects against "SARS." Yesterday, the National Command Group for Preventing and Controlling Atypical Pneumonia announced this news.
According to reports, to identify effective traditional Chinese medicines for treating and alleviating SARS, a screening team of nearly 150 researchers completed 118 in vitro and in vivo experiments within 17 days. Results showed that these eight patent medicines effectively improve clinical symptoms related to different pathological stages of SARS:
First, drugs targeting acute lung inflammation and lung index/inflammatory factors: Qingkailing Injection, Dendranthema Tangshen Injection.
Fourth, drugs protecting against multi-organ damage caused by endotoxins: Qingkailing Injection, Fufang Kusen Injection, Xiangdan Injection. Qingkailing Injection shows significant effects in reducing fever, resisting endotoxin-induced pulmonary edema and chemical lung injury, multi-organ dysfunction, and platelet reduction. It may be considered as a foundational medicine in integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment for atypical pneumonia, used in combination with other drugs for comprehensive therapy.
