Pharmacological Diet for Nosebleeds
Nosebleeds in the elderly are commonly caused by liver fire ascending, lung heat congesting upward, or spleen failing to control blood. Treatment should first use external methods to stop bleeding, then differentiate syndromes to find the root cause, combining pharmacological diet therapy.
Liver Fire Ascending Type
250g Malva verticillata, 250g tender shepherd’s purse, 50g fragrant tofu. Wash and remove impurities from Malva and shepherd’s purse, blanch briefly in boiling water, drain, and chop finely. Blanch the fragrant tofu briefly, cut into thin slices, mix with Malva and shepherd’s purse in a bowl. Add appropriate amounts of refined salt, monosodium glutamate, vinegar, granulated sugar, and sesame oil, mix well, serve as a dish with meals, to be eaten freely.
Lung Heat Congesting Upward Type
2000g sugarcane, 500g Imperata cylindrica rhizome. Wash sugarcane, peel, cut into segments, extract juice. Wash Imperata rhizome, soak briefly in warm water, crush, and extract juice. Mix sugarcane and Imperata juices, divide and consume in the morning and afternoon.
Spleen Failing to Control Blood Type
30g longan flesh, 30g lotus node, 50g lotus starch, 30g rock sugar. Wash and dry lotus nodes, grind into powder. Place longan flesh in a pot, add sufficient water, simmer for 30 minutes. Add lotus node powder, lotus starch, and rock sugar while hot, stirring continuously until a porridge-like consistency forms. Divide and consume in the morning and afternoon.
