10 Dietary Therapies to Help Prevent Hypertension

(1) Celery Porridge: 120 grams of celery including roots, 250 grams of rice. Wash celery, cut into 6 cm segments, rinse rice. Place both in a pot with adequate water, bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer gently until rice is soft and porridge forms. Add a little salt and monosodium glutamate, stir well and serve.
(2) Chrysanthemum Porridge: 15 grams of chrysanthemum powder, 100 grams of rice. Remove chrysanthemum petals, steam them, dry in sun or shade, then grind into fine powder. Rinse rice, place in pot with adequate water, bring to boil over high heat, reduce to low heat until half-cooked, then add chrysanthemum powder. (3) Mung Bean and Kelp Porridge: 100 grams each of mung beans and kelp, appropriate amount of rice. Chop kelp and cook all three ingredients together into porridge. Can be eaten regularly as dinner.
(4) Lotus Leaf Porridge: One fresh lotus leaf, 100 grams of rice, a small amount of rock sugar. Boil lotus leaf to extract soup, then use this soup to cook rice and rock sugar into porridge. Eat warm at breakfast and dinner.
(5) Vinegar-Soaked Peanuts: Soak raw peanuts in vinegar for 5 days. Consume 10–15 peanuts daily in the morning. This helps lower blood pressure, stop bleeding, and reduce cholesterol.
(6) Sugar-Vinegar Garlic: Soak garlic cloves in sugar-vinegar solution for over one month. Eat 6 cloves daily and drink 20 ml of the syrup. Continue for one month. Suitable for stubborn hypertension.
(7) Luobuma and Schisandra Tea: 6 grams of Luobuma leaves, 5 grams of schisandra berries, appropriate amount of rock sugar. Steep in boiling water and drink as tea. Regular consumption helps lower blood pressure, improve hypertension symptoms, and prevent coronary heart disease.
(8) Polygonum and Jujube Porridge: 60 grams of Polygonum, boil with water to extract concentrated decoction, remove residue, then add 100 grams of rice, 3–5 jujubes, and rock sugar. Cook into porridge. Eat twice daily. Has functions of nourishing liver and kidneys, enriching essence and blood, darkening hair, and lowering blood pressure.
(9) Dried Abalone and Shepherd’s Purse Soup: 10–30 grams each of dried abalone, shepherd’s purse, or celery. Boil daily and drink the soup. One course lasts 15 days and is effective for lowering blood pressure.
(10) Carrot Juice: About 1000 ml daily, consumed in portions. Medical research confirms that hypertensive patients drinking carrot juice experience significant blood pressure reduction.
