【Comment】"Modern Practical Chinese Materia Medica" uses this formula to treat "neurogenic migraine in women." Stone pine leaf has effects of dispelling wind, promoting circulation, and tonifying the kidney. According to "Compendium of Materia Medica," it can be used in wine infusion to treat headache due to wind invasion; "Supplement to the Newly Revised Materia Medica" considers its strength lies in dispelling wind and promoting circulation. Ligustrum lucidum nourishes liver and kidney, strengthens waist and knees; "Revised Materia Medica" states it promotes blood flow and regulates menstruation. Combined with ginseng radix, which excels in treating vertigo and headache due to deficiency wind, ligusticum wallichii, which promotes qi movement and relieves stagnation, and angelica dahurica, which is highly effective for orbital bone pain, the formula achieves a synergistic effect in dispelling wind, promoting circulation, and relieving pain. Pharmacological studies show that ginseng radix, ligusticum wallichii, and angelica dahurica all have significant analgesic and sedative effects; ginseng radix and ligusticum wallichii also exhibit antihypertensive properties, thus this formula may offer certain therapeutic benefits for headaches caused by hypertension.<hypertension>
