Dietary Therapy for Abnormal Leucorrhea

🔑 Keywords: Health Food Recipes
· Dietary Prevention and Treatment of Abnormal Leucorrhea
Leucorrhea is the vaginal secretion in women. Under normal conditions, leucorrhea is moderate in amount, transparent like egg white, with slight odor. If the amount increases significantly, or if color, texture, or smell changes, it becomes pathological—known as abnormal leucorrhea or "dai xia." This condition often results from vaginal inflammation, cervical or uterine lesions, pelvic inflammatory disease, and is a symptom of various diseases.
For prevention and treatment of abnormal leucorrhea, diet should avoid spicy, greasy, raw, and cold foods. Instead, consume foods that strengthen the spleen and kidneys and clear heat and dampness, such as lotus seeds, jujubes, yams, coix seeds, and winter melon seeds.
If abnormal leucorrhea is due to spleen deficiency or kidney deficiency with thin, excessive discharge, use foods like broad beans, ginkgo nuts, green beans, cowpeas, black fungus, walnuts, sea snails, turtle meat, celery, lotus seeds, shepherd’s purse, cuttlefish bone, cockscomb flower, purslane, pomegranate, mandarin fish, and red adzuki beans for dietary therapy.
Additionally, prevention of abnormal leucorrhea requires moderation in sexual activity, maintaining hygiene during menstruation, pregnancy, and postpartum periods. Keep the genital area clean, avoid shared bathing basins, and separate towels and basins for foot washing and external genital washing for women with athlete’s foot.
