Several Pharmacological Diet Recipes for Treating Anemia
Anemia refers to insufficient red blood cells or hemoglobin in the blood. Causes mainly include excessive destruction of red blood cells, poor hematopoiesis, and blood loss.
Anemia falls under the category of "deficiency syndromes" in Traditional Chinese Medicine, including common types such as blood deficiency, qi deficiency, yin deficiency, and yang deficiency. Patients can choose appropriate dietary therapies based on their condition:
1. 15 grams longan meat, 3–5 jujubes, 100 grams rice. Cook together into porridge, consume warm.
Effect: Nourishes heart and spleen, tonifies and strengthens.
2. 2 pounds (1000 grams) fresh sheep bones, 200 grams rice. Wash bones, crush, boil with water to make broth, strain out residue, add rice to cook into porridge. Serve warm with appropriate seasoning. One course lasts 10–15 days.
Effect: Tonifies kidneys and strengthens bones.
3. 100 grams brown glutinous rice, 50 grams coix seed, 15 jujubes. Cook together into porridge. Add appropriate sugar when eating.
Effect: Nourishes yin and replenishes blood.
4. 60 grams prepared Polygonum multiflorum, 3–5 jujubes, 100 grams rice. First, decoct prepared Polygonum multiflorum to obtain concentrated juice, remove residue, add jujubes and rice to cook into porridge. Just before completion, add appropriate red sugar, reboil for 1–2 minutes. Consume warm. Note: Polygonum multiflorum must not be cooked in iron utensils; use clay or enameled pots instead.
Effect: Tonifies liver and kidneys, nourishes blood, treats deficiency.
5. 2 eggs, separate yolks, beat into mixture. Boil water, add a pinch of salt, pour in egg yolks, cook until done. Drink twice daily.
Effect: Iron supplementation, suitable for iron-deficiency anemia.
6. 150 grams pork liver, appropriate spinach. Wash pork liver, slice, marinate with starch, salt, soy sauce, monosodium glutamate. Stir-fry with blanched spinach in hot oil, or wash 50 grams pork liver, slice, boil in water until nearly cooked, add spinach, boil again, add seasoning. Eat liver, vegetables, and drink soup.
Effect: Iron supplementation, suitable for iron-deficiency anemia.
