Chronic Gastritis Dietary Selection
Chronic Gastritis Dietary Selection
(1) Pay attention to consuming nutritious foods. Eat more high-protein and high-vitamin foods to ensure adequate intake of various nutrients, preventing anemia and malnutrition. For individuals with anemia or malnutrition, include foods rich in protein and heme iron in the diet, such as lean meat, chicken, fish, liver, and other organ meats. High-vitamin foods include deep-colored fresh vegetables and fruits, such as leafy greens, tomatoes, eggplants, and red dates. It is recommended to eat 2–3 fresh hawthorns per meal to stimulate gastric juice secretion.

(2) Maintain acid-base balance in diet. When gastric acid secretion is excessive, drink milk or soy milk, or eat steamed bread or bread to neutralize stomach acid. When gastric acid secretion is reduced, consume concentrated meat broth, chicken soup, sour fruits, or fruit juices to stimulate gastric juice secretion and aid digestion. Avoid foods that cause abdominal bloating and are high in fiber, such as legumes, bean products, sucrose, celery, and leeks. When suffering from atrophic gastritis, it is advisable to drink yogurt, as phospholipids in yogurt adhere tightly to the gastric lining, protecting the mucosa and aiding repair of damaged gastric tissue. The unique components in yogurt—lactose metabolized into lactic acid and glucuronic acid—increase gastric acidity, inhibit harmful bacteria from breaking down proteins and producing toxins, and protect the stomach from toxin damage, thus benefiting treatment and recovery of gastritis.

(3) When taking antibiotics orally for certain inflammatory conditions, also drink yogurt simultaneously. This not only replenishes nutrition but also prevents side effects caused by antibiotics on the body. Yogurt contains large amounts of active bacilli, which can restore intestinal flora imbalance caused by antibiotics and protect the gastric mucosa.
Always control portion sizes during meals; avoid overeating favorite foods. Instead, adopt a pattern of eating small meals frequently to enhance nutrition and reduce gastric burden. Smoking and alcohol consumption should be strictly avoided.
