Use congee to调理身体不适
Use congee to调理 body discomfort
In spring, as in other seasons, physical discomfort can be managed through appropriate diet. Among these, consuming medicinal congee is a simple and practical method for disease prevention.
Leek Congee:
First, boil 100 grams of washed rice in a pot until boiling. Then add 550 grams of washed and chopped leeks, and cook into porridge. Consume as needed at breakfast and dinner. Leeks are rich in vitamins A, B, C, sugars, and proteins, and have flavor-enhancing and antibacterial properties. Due to their hot nature and yang-promoting effect, they are unsuitable for individuals with yin deficiency or skin sores.
Celery Congee:
Wash celery including roots. Use 150 grams per serving, simmer with water, extract juice, then mix with 100 grams of rice to cook into porridge. Consume as needed at breakfast and dinner. In spring, liver yang tends to rise easily, often causing increased liver fire, headaches, dizziness, and red eyes. Regular consumption of celery congee helps lower blood pressure and reduce irritability, especially beneficial for patients and elderly individuals.
Mint Congee:
Take 15 grams of mint, decoct into tea and let cool. Cook 50 grams of rice into porridge. When nearly done, add an appropriate amount of rock sugar, reboil for one or two minutes. Consume warm at breakfast or dinner. In traditional Chinese medicine, mint is used as a diaphoretic and fever-reducing agent. Elderly people consuming mint congee in spring can clear the mind, calm emotions, disperse wind-heat, enhance appetite, and aid digestion.
Goji Berry Congee:
Use 50 grams of goji berries and 100 grams of rice, cook together into porridge. Consume as needed at breakfast and dinner. Goji berries are sweet and neutral in nature, targeting the liver and kidney meridians. They are a dual-purpose food and medicine for nourishing the liver and kidneys. Additionally, goji berry congee helps lower blood glucose and cholesterol, protects the liver, and promotes regeneration of liver cells.
