Eight delicious hypertension-relieving soups
Hypertensive patients, besides adhering to medication, can also prepare these tasty soups at home—both enjoyable and supportive therapeutically.
Seaweed Hypotensive Five-Flavor Soup: One sheet seaweed, two stalks celery, one tomato, ten water chestnuts, half an onion. Cut celery into segments, tomato into slices, water chestnuts into cubes, onion into strips. Simmer together into soup, season and serve.
Seaweed and Cassia Seed Soup: 30 grams seaweed, 15 grams cassia seed. Boil seaweed in a clay pot for one hour, then add cassia seed and boil another hour. Drink the soup and eat the seaweed.
Seaweed and Bird’s Nest Hypotensive Soup: 25 grams seaweed (cut into strips), 25 grams bird’s nest, 25 grams seaweed, three blocks tofu. Simmer all ingredients with scallions, ginger, and salt. Add tofu cubes and cook briefly.
Sea Cucumber and Scallop Soup: Two sea cucumbers, two dried scallops, 20 grams seaweed, 20 grams prunella herb. Soak sea cucumber and scallops overnight. Steam sea cucumber with ginger and scallions until soft. Chop scallop and seaweed finely, simmer into soup. Boil seven bowls of water down to three and a half bowls. Add prunella herb decoction, season, and serve.
Medicated Jellyfish and Young Uncaria Soup: 250 grams jellyfish, 20 grams young uncaria. Simmer together into soup. Consume twice daily, morning and evening.
Jellyfish and Achyranthes Root Hypotensive Soup: 250 grams jellyfish, 50 grams dried abalone, 50 grams achyranthes root. Simmer together and consume.
Double Mushroom Soup: 10 grams white fungus, 10 grams black fungus, 30 grams rock sugar. Simmer together into soup. Eat mushrooms and drink soup, three times daily.
Pork Kidney Calming Dizziness Soup: Two braised pork kidneys, 25 grams seaweed. Simmer into soup and consume. Helps treat dizziness and headache due to hypertension.
