Five Dietary Methods to Combat Fatigue
With the fast pace of modern life, increased work intensity and mental stress often lead to fatigue. Even after a week-long holiday, many still feel exhausted upon returning to work. Dr. Wang Yi, Director of Nutritional Therapy at Guang’anmen Hospital, China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, recommends five dietary therapies to alleviate fatigue.
1. Sour Jujube Seed and Lotus Seed Porridge
Ingredients: 10g sour jujube seeds, 20g lotus seeds, 20g goji berries, 100g mixed glutinous rice and regular rice.
Method: Wash all ingredients, add water, and cook into porridge. Add sugar as desired.
Effect: Calms the mind, nourishes the brain.
2. Goji Berry and Lamb Brain Dish
Ingredients: One lamb brain, 30g goji berries.
Method: Clean the lamb brain, place it with goji berries in a bowl. Add chopped green onions, minced ginger, cooking wine, salt, steam until soft (texture similar to tofu).
Effect: Nourishes the brain, relieves physical fatigue.
3. Astragalus Chicken Dish
Ingredients: 30g astragalus, 15g tangerine peel, 12g cinnamon, one rooster.
Method: Wrap herbs in gauze, combine with rooster in a pot, simmer gently until cooked. Season with salt, eat meat and drink broth.
Effect: Relieves physical fatigue and low vitality.
4. Ginseng Glutinous Rice Porridge
Ingredients: 10g ginseng, 50g yam, 50g glutinous rice, appropriate amount of brown sugar.
Method: Slice ginseng thinly, cook with glutinous rice and yam. When porridge is ready, add brown sugar. Consume warm, once daily.
Effect: Tonifies vital energy, resists fatigue, strengthens the heart.
Note: Not suitable for people with hypertension or fever.
5. Eel and Yam Porridge
Ingredients: One live eel, 50g yam, 50g glutinous rice, seasonings as needed.
Method: Gut and slice the eel, marinate with cooking wine, ginger, green onions, salt. Combine with yam and rice to cook into porridge. Consume once daily.
Effect: Nourishes both qi and blood, strengthens tendons and bones. Regular consumption helps eliminate fatigue.
