Five Methods to Alleviate Worry
Five Methods to Alleviate Worry
"Worry once, and hair turns white"—everyone knows this proverb. Yet in daily life, we inevitably encounter unpleasant events that bring烦恼 and sorrow. Prolonged worry and depression can lead to illness, so we must relieve worries and eliminate distress. Below are five approaches:
Concern for Others
When feeling depressed or troubled, try helping or caring for others. This helps realize that others may suffer even more than oneself, possibly experiencing deeper sorrows and anxieties. At least temporarily, this can alleviate one’s own worries and distress.
Outings or Travel
If physically able, immerse yourself in nature through outings or travel. For those who write long hours and feel downcast, put down pen and paper and walk in a garden or courtyard. Alternatively, plan a trip to nature—admire majestic mountains and rivers. This relieves fatigue, clears the mind, forgets worries, and lets one bask in nature’s embrace. You might think: "Am I really unhappy? No, perhaps I’ve never been."
Make More Friends
When lonely and bored, one easily falls into a state of worry and unease. Avoid solitude; instead, proactively seek out optimistic, open-minded friends and stay away from isolation. Sincere, positive, and forward-looking friends subtly inspire openness and cheerfulness, helping overcome sadness and awakening a latent ability to create a positive life.
Bathing to Relieve Worry
When feeling down, bathing—even briefly—is an excellent way to relieve worry. Whether cold or hot, just a few minutes suffice. After bathing, one feels relaxed and refreshed, shedding much worry and frustration. Try it if interested.
