Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Preservation: Spring Health-Preserving Porridge

· Carrot Porridge:
First wash 1–2 carrots (according to preference), cut into fine strips, blanch briefly in boiling water, then stir-fry with plant oil, green onion, ginger, and other seasonings. Cook 100 grams of rice with water into porridge. Add the stir-fried carrots just before the porridge is done. Sprinkle with chopped coriander and sesame oil before serving—immediately releasing a tempting aroma that stirs the appetite. Carrot porridge is rich in vitamin A. Those with poor appetite, indigestion, dry skin, night blindness, or hypertension can regularly consume this porridge.
· Rose Flower Porridge:
Best to use dehydrated, unopened small rose buds—nutrients are concentrated within the closed flower. Prepare porridge using fresh rice. After cooking, add a moderate amount of dried rose buds. When the porridge turns a delicate pink, it is ready to eat. Regular consumption of rose flower porridge can enhance beauty, improve skin texture, relieve gastric pain caused by liver qi stagnation, and provide calming, soothing, and anti-depressive effects on emotions.
In spring, flowers bloom everywhere—not just roses. Using peony blossoms, jasmine, and other flowers in porridge brings a fragrant aroma and beautifies the complexion. Drinking porridge can make you increasingly beautiful—why not? Of course, some flowers are unsafe to eat, such as oleander. Beauty-conscious individuals must be cautious!
