Kidney Deficiency Quietly Affects Young Women

Do you find your face dull and dark circles under your eyes after removing makeup? Or notice your hair lacks luster? This might be due to kidney deficiency. Yesterday, reporters learned from several local hospitals that due to increasing modern female stress and weakened immunity, more young women are suffering from kidney weakness and inflammation. Kidney deficiency, once typical of middle-aged and elderly people, is now silently affecting younger women.
Professor Deng Yueyi, Head of the Nephrology Department at Longhua Hospital, Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, reported that among current nephrology patients, women aged 30–50 constitute the majority—especially office workers or those in sub-health states.
Office women spend long hours in air-conditioned, poorly ventilated environments where seasons blur. Constant oxygen deficiency weakens the kidneys. Moreover, indoor air pollutants like carbon dioxide and toxic dust can trigger immune decline in organs like the kidneys, potentially leading to nephritis over time.
Modern women face unprecedented competition pressures, irregular lifestyles, and emotional instability—making them particularly vulnerable. Prolonged sadness affects immunity, gradually weakening the kidneys. Meanwhile, reliance on fast food leads to imbalanced nutrition and excessive calories, causing kidney heat and reduced resistance.
Reporters learned that kidney deficiency manifests throughout the body. Typically, affected individuals have dull hair, dry mouth, grayish complexion, dark circles, frequent sore throats, lower back and knee soreness after fatigue, frequent nighttime urination, urgency, morning diarrhea, cold intolerance, menstrual irregularities, dizziness, weakness, and lower abdominal pain.
Doctors warn: Do not rush to self-medicate upon noticing these symptoms. Many kidney diseases stem from improper use of supplements due to unclear individual constitution or lack of professional diagnosis—disrupting internal balance. Young professionals should avoid overwork and staying up late, maintain regular routines, cultivate inner peace, and keep emotions stable. Regularly consume calcium-rich foods like bone broth, or cooling foods such as yam, lotus seeds, honeysuckle, mung beans, chrysanthemum, and fish soup.
