Three Simple Traditional Chinese Medicine Remedies for Stress Relief

🔑 Keywords: Other · TCM Health Preservation
Staying cheerful and relaxed is not difficult. There's no need to rush to special places like hot springs or spas after work; you can relax at home by drinking tea or taking a bath. Here are three stress-relief remedies for your reference:
Wheat and Jujube Decoction
Ingredients: Licorice root 15 grams, floating wheat 50 grams, 8 red dates.
Preparation:
1. Rinse all herbs briefly with water.
2. Boil water, then add all herbs and simmer (crush the red dates before cooking).
3. Once the herbs are well-infused, drink as a decoction.
Notes:
Licorice treats weak stomachs and relieves pain; red dates nourish qi and yin; wheat calms the spirit and soothes nervous excitement. This decoction helps relieve insomnia, neurasthenia, irritability (or those with symptoms of bipolar disorder), and constipation caused by tension or stress. It also improves emotional instability, frequent urges to cry, excessive yawning, mental fatigue due to weak digestion, and can be beneficial with regular consumption.
Relaxing Herbal Bath
Ingredients:
Mint 25 grams (about half a handful), Angelica root tip 50 grams (about one handful), Safflower 50 grams (about one handful).
Preparation:
1. Place all herbs in a gauze bag and tie tightly.
2. Boil in water for 20–30 minutes, then pour into the bathtub. Adjust temperature and soak.
Notes:
Mint has a cooling effect and is a favorite fragrance in essential oils. Soaking in mint baths refreshes the skin and provides olfactory relaxation. Angelica and safflower promote blood circulation and joint flexibility—safflower enhances blood flow. Whether used internally or in baths, this herbal soak ensures smooth flow of blood and energy throughout the body. For injured areas, adding half wine (half hot water, half alcohol) to the bath enhances effectiveness.
Sinking Incense Aromatherapy
Ingredients: Appropriate amount of frankincense powder.
Preparation: Light an appropriate amount of frankincense powder for aromatherapy.
Notes:
Aromatherapy is currently popular, but pure essential oils or oil lamps can be expensive. Frankincense has a simple, calming aroma that stabilizes the mind. The incense commonly used for Buddhist offerings is frankincense—high quality yet affordable, making it the "king among incenses." Burning it indoors promotes calmness and relaxation through aromatic therapy.
