Tuberculosis and Feverish Heat Wine

Cypress Leaf Wine
[Drug Composition] 30 jin crushed cypress leaves (extract juice from one dan water), 1 dan clean millet, 10 jin crushed fine yeast
[Function and Indications] Treats wasting diseases due to consumption (tuberculosis).
[Dosage and Administration] Three times daily, drink according to tolerance, until symptoms improve.
[Preparation Method] Soak yeast in cypress leaf juice, when fermentation begins, cook millet, cool, mix evenly, place in jar, seal, open after 14 days to extract wine.

Note: According to "Treatise on Drug Properties," cypress leaves are suitable with wine. Modern experiments show cypress leaf alcohol extract (1:180,000) inhibits Mycobacterium tuberculosis growth in vitro—1800 times stronger than water decoction—and synergizes with isoniazid. Also inhibits pneumococcus and catarrhal diplococcus.
Stemona Wine
[Drug Composition] 60g stemona, 500ml white wine
[Function and Indications] Moistens lungs, stops cough. Treats cough due to pulmonary tuberculosis, yin deficiency, dry cough with little phlegm, dry mouth, shortness of breath, pale complexion, occasional chills, hot palms, and even accidental swallowing of coins.
[Dosage and Administration] Drink a small cup before bedtime each night.
[Preparation Method] Wash stemona, slice, stir-fry in a hot pan until cooked, pack into a gauze bag, tie tightly. Place the bag and white wine into a wine bottle, seal, soak for seven days.

[Note] Applying this wine to wet hair before bed and wrapping with cloth can treat head lice.
Note: In vitro tests show stemona alcohol solution has varying inhibitory effects on multiple pathogens such as pneumococcus and human-type tubercle bacilli.
Chunroot and Acanthopanax Bark Wine
[Drug Composition] Fresh Chunroot (cut), fresh acanthopanax bark (newly hollowed)
[Function and Indications] Treats pulmonary tuberculosis.
[Dosage and Administration] Drink appropriately.
[Preparation Method] Boil with ash-free wine, filter out residue.

Winter Worm Summer Grass Wine
[Drug Composition] Winter worm summer grass (Cordyceps sinensis)
[Function and Indications] Tonifies lung and kidney, stops bleeding, resolves phlegm. Used for lung yin deficiency, kidney yang deficiency causing asthma, cough with hemoptysis. Also useful for kidney deficiency-related lumbar and knee pain, post-illness weakness.
[Dosage and Administration] Once or twice daily.
[Preparation Method] Soak several pieces in wine for three days.

Note: In vitro, ethanol extract at concentrations of 1:400–1:10,000 shows significant inhibition of Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37RV. Adding serum weakens the effect, requiring 1:500 to inhibit bacterial growth. Water decoction shows no inhibition against human-type, bovine-type, or mycobacterium smegmatis.
Rehmannia and Polygonum Wine
[Drug Composition] 400g fresh rehmannia, 500g polygonum multiflorum
[Function and Indications] Yin deficiency with feverish heat, irritability, thirst, depletion of body fluids, premature graying hair, heat-induced bleeding, liver-kidney essence-blood deficiency causing seminal emission, leukorrhea, lumbar-sacral pain, rough skin, physical weakness, low reproductive capacity.
[Dosage and Administration] Three times daily, 10–20ml each time.
[Preparation Method] Boil herbs to concentrate juice, mix with 100g yeast and 2.5g yellow rice, brew like normal wine, seal in container. Let ferment 5 days in spring/summer, 7 days in autumn/winter. When opened, if green liquid appears, it is true essence—drink first, then filter and store.
[Caution] Avoid raw, cold, greasy foods, and pork, horse, cow, dog meat.

[Drug Composition] 2 liang green beans, 2 liang yam, 1.5 liang each of huangbai, niuxi, yuanshen, shashen, baishao, shanzhi, tianmaidong, huafen, 1.2 liang danggui, 3 qian gancao
[Function and Indications] Treats yin deficiency with phlegm-fire syndromes, post-illness recovery.

[Drug Composition] 1 sheng Morus root bark (east-facing, sliced), 3 liang wolf’s claw (cleaned, soil removed), 5 he Wu Zhu Yu root bark (east-facing, cleaned, soil removed)
[Function and Indications] Tuberculosis with heat generating worms in the lungs.
[Dosage and Administration] Divide into three doses, take one daily on an empty stomach.
[Preparation Method] Chop herbs finely, boil with seven sheng wine until reduced to two sheng, filter out residue.

Eel Wine
[Drug Composition] Eel
[Function and Indications] Treats bone-deep feverish wasting and intestinal worms.
[Dosage and Administration] Add appropriate salt and vinegar, then consume.
[Preparation Method] Use two pounds eel, clean, remove internal organs, cut into segments, place in pan, cook thoroughly with three large cups of wine.
