Oral and Dental Medicinal Wine

Pain-Relieving Wine
[Ingredients] Aconite root 9g, Cao Wu 3g, Dried Ginger 9g, Fine cinnamon 3g, White芷 3g, white wine 100ml
[Function & Indication] Sedative analgesic, local anesthesia. Suitable for dental caries.
[Dosage & Administration] Swish the liquid around the affected tooth; usually 2–3 applications suffice for pain relief.
[Preparation Method] Grind all herbs into coarse powder, mix with wine in a wine jar, soak briefly, then warm over low heat.

Comment: Both Aconite and Cao Wu contain aconitine, which has anesthetic and analgesic effects on nerve endings; fine cinnamon contains various essential oils with sedative and anesthetic properties, but should be used cautiously to avoid poisoning. Treatment of over 20 cases showed satisfactory pain relief.
Semisweet Wine
[Ingredients] Twenty pieces of Pinellia ternata
[Function & Indication] Treats severe glossitis with full mouth obstruction.
[Dosage & Administration] Swish with hot wine, spit out when cold, then re-swish with hot wine until cured. Internal use is also effective.
[Preparation Method] Boil the herb in water, then soak briefly in water, immediately immerse in one sheng of good wine, seal container. Let sit for a long time.

[Ingredients] One pine needle, two heaping spoonfuls of salt
[Function & Indication] Treats tooth swelling.
[Dosage & Administration] Hold in mouth, spit out when cold, stop when cured.
[Preparation Method] Boil the above ingredients with three sheng of good wine until one sheng remains.

Chinese Fir Leaf Wine
[Ingredients] Three liang of Chinese fir leaves, Chuanxiong, fine cinnamon each two liang
[Function & Indication] Tooth swelling.
[Dosage & Administration] Swish with wine.
[Preparation Method] Chop the three herbs finely, place in four sheng of wine, boil down to two sheng and half.

Headache and Tooth Pain Wine
[Ingredients] One heaping spoonful of Sichuan pepper, ten leaves of Mangcao (roasted), each two liang of white atractylodes, Curly willow root (same as Yuli root), duhuo, Chuanxiong, each one liang of fine cinnamon, fangfeng
[Function & Indication] Treats headache and facial wind, oral and dental pain.
[Dosage & Administration] Hold in mouth until symptoms subside. Do not swallow the juice.
[Preparation Method] Cut the eight ingredients into small pieces, boil in three sheng of wine for three to five boiling cycles, then filter out residue.

Guaranteed Effective Toothache Wine
[Ingredients] Fangfeng, Fu Zi, Zhi Jiao each two liang, Jiecao (roasted) one liang
[Function & Indication] Toothache.
[Dosage & Administration] Warm one cup of clear wine, swish a small amount around the mouth, do not swallow.
[Preparation Method] Crush and sieve the four ingredients into a powder.

Yellow Link, Huang Bai, and Gardenia Wine
[Ingredients] Half a liang of Coptis chinensis, three liang of Phellodendron amurense, twenty gardenias
[Function & Indication] Treats bleeding from tongue like pinholes, gingival bleeding, hematochezia.
[Dosage & Administration] Drink all at once.
[Preparation Method] Soak the herbs in two sheng of wine overnight, filter out residue, boil three times.

Du Huo Wine
[Ingredients] Four liang of Du Huo, two sheng of wine
[Function & Indication] Treats empty tooth roots, swelling and pain, and lockjaw due to stroke.
[Dosage & Administration] Warmly hold in mouth, or drink three heaping spoonfuls warm, repeat if not cured. For locked jaw, administer by pouring. Once daily three times.
[Preparation Method] Soak the herbs in clean vessel. Warm over gentle fire until slightly boiling, simmer until volume halved, filter out residue.

[Note] The "Comprehensive Medical Records of the Sacred Healing" adds five heaping spoonfuls of soybeans to treat lockjaw due to stroke.
Comment: Pharmacological studies show that Du Huo has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.
Shi Hui Du Huo Wine
[Ingredients] Three liang of Shi Hui, five heaping spoonfuls of water, boil to four sheng, filter out residue; Zhi Jiao one liang, Wu Zhu Yu, Du Huo, cuttlefish bone, peach gum each one liang, Gui Xin half a liang, one sheng of wine
[Function & Indication] Gum swelling and pain, inability to open mouth, facial puffiness.
[Dosage & Administration] Hold in affected area, three times daily, until cured.

Aconite and Du Huo Wine
[Ingredients] Aconite, Du Huo, white bark of Yuli root each one liang
[Function & Indication] Treats toothache.
[Dosage & Administration] Hold in mouth, temperature moderate, continue until cured.
[Preparation Method] Chop the three ingredients, wrap in cloth, soak in one and a half sheng of good wine overnight, steam gently over slow fire until one sheng is obtained, filter out residue.
[Caution] Only for holding in mouth, do not swallow—may be toxic.
