[Function and Indications] Five types of waist pain.
[Usage and Dosage] Take before meals, warm consumption of one medium bowl.
[Preparation Method] Finely cut the herbs, place in a fine silk bag, soak in two hu of good wine, seal tightly, and let rest for five nights.
Comment: According to "Taiping Shenghui Fang": "There are five types of waist pain: first, Shaoyin (kidney); in October, all yang energy declines, hence waist pain occurs. Second, wind-stagnation arthralgia—cold and wind invade the waist, causing pain. Third, kidney deficiency—overuse injures the kidney, thus causing pain. Fourth, trauma-related waist pain—due to falls or injuries. Fifth, sleeping on damp ground—leading to pain. Hence these are called five types of waist pain." In summary, there are four main causes: ① Kidney deficiency; ② Invasion by external pathogenic factors such as wind, cold, and dampness; ③ Overwork; ④ Trauma from falls.
