[Drug Composition] Calamus—1 dou
[Function and Indications] Promotes circulation of blood vessels, regulates nutritive and defensive qi, prolongs life. Treats bone atrophy; long-term use results in fullness of complexion, enhanced strength, improved hearing and vision, ability to run faster than horses, hair turning black again after whitening, teeth regrowing after falling out, and luminous eyesight day and night.
[Dosage and Administration] Warmly drink one cup each time, three times daily.
[Preparation Method] Thinly slice the herb, dry in sunlight, place in a fine silk bag, pour good wine (one shi) into a non-leaking jar, seal tightly, and let stand for 100 days before use.

Comment: According to "The Classic of Materia Medica," calamus can "open the orifices, supplement the five zang organs, unblock nine orifices, clarify hearing and vision, and enhance voice." Later generations mainly valued its function of regulating qi and clearing orifices.
