Three Effective Methods for Treating Chronic Pharyngitis
1. Massage:
① Rub the sides of the throat area with the thumb and index/middle fingers for 20–30 times.
② Pinch and pull the skin around the throat area with the thumb and index finger for 20–30 times, until local redness and warmth in the throat are achieved. Press acupoints Yifeng, Tiandu, and Hegu, each for 1 minute. Perform once in the morning and once in the evening daily.
2. Moxibustion:
Select one of the following points: Hegu, Quchi, or Wai Guan. Apply mild moxibustion or finger pressure for 5–20 minutes each time, administered whenever symptoms occur.
3. Blood-letting Therapy:
Select the dorsal vein on the ear. First gently rub the affected ear to induce local congestion, then locate the vein behind the ear. After routine disinfection, use a fine needle to puncture the vein and let out 3–5 drops of blood. Immediately press the puncture site with an alcohol-soaked cotton ball. Perform once daily. On the second day, puncture just below the previous site on the same side of the ear. On the third day, return to the original site. This method is especially effective in children. Alternatively, use a three-edged needle to puncture Shaoshang, Nei Dao, and the veins on the back of the ear, letting out several drops of blood daily.
