Secret Transmission of Taiyi Divine Needle Acupuncture

🔑 Keywords: Other · Acupuncture and Tuina
“Taiyi Divine Needle Acupuncture” is a school within acupuncture and moxibustion characterized by combining needle and moxa therapy, strategic point selection, and medicinal moxibustion penetrating deep into tissues to strengthen vital energy and expel pathogenic factors, thereby restoring balance and treating diseases. “Taiyi” means supreme honor, akin to Daoist terminology. Qing dynasty physician Gao Shizong said: “Taiyi signifies the highest dignity, where all officials gather to form a noble figure.” Naming this needle “Taiyi” merely emphasizes its miraculous efficacy.
Formula composition:
Gan Song 3g, Ru Xiang, Mo Yao each 12g, Ya Xiao 1g, Niu Xi, Chuan Wu, Du Huo each 12g, San Ling, Cao Wu 1.5g, Bai Zhi, Qiang Huo 1.2g, Gui Zhi, Bo He, Ma Huang, Chuan Shan Jia, Fang Feng, Du Zhong, Chou Niu each 6g, Ding Xiang, Zhang Nao each 1.2g, Nan Xing 1.2g, Xi Xin 6g, Jiang Xiang 3g, Ming Xiong, Quan Xie each 4.5g, She Xiang 6g, Qin Jiu 6g, Ai Rong 15g, Liu Huang 3g. All ingredients ground into fine powder, mixed evenly, and stored for use.
Needle preparation: Cut white paper into approximately one-foot square sheets. Spread 15g of ai wool evenly on the paper. Sprinkle 15g of powdered herbs uniformly over the ai wool. Then sprinkle sandalwood powder (each stick 3g, use 1.5g in summer) on top. Roll tightly from one edge, pressing firmly and turning to form a cylindrical rod about 6 fen in diameter. Coat the surface with egg white, dry in shade, and store in a dry place.
Moxibustion application: Hold the moxa stick with thumb, index, and middle fingers, stabilize with the little finger near the acupoint site. This prevents wrist tremors and fatigue during prolonged treatment. Alternatively, hold the moxa stick with thumb and index finger, stabilize with middle finger near the site. Light one end of the moxa stick and apply it about 2–3 cm above the skin, warming the area until a comfortable heat sensation is felt without burning pain. Typically, each point is treated for 5–7 minutes, until slight redness appears on the skin. After treatment, the patient should rest quietly to allow the medicinal vapor to circulate throughout the body, reach the affected site, and expel pathogens.
Effects of Taiyi Divine Needle:
1. Reinforce vital energy, restore yang, and prevent collapse.
2. Supplement vital energy and enhance physical strength.
3. Unblock meridians and harmonize qi and blood.
4. Warm the interior, dispel cold, resolve stagnation, and disperse nodules.
5. Particularly suitable for children’s conditions.
6. Highly effective for gynecological disorders.
7. Especially effective for gastrointestinal diseases, rheumatic numbness, and injuries from sudden trauma.
8. Suitable for all conditions involving weakened visceral functions.
In summary, Taiyi Divine Needle has extensive functions and broad therapeutic applications. However, the speed of recovery depends largely on the duration of illness and severity of condition. For mild or localized acute conditions, results are rapid; for severe, chronic, or difficult-to-treat illnesses, results are slower. Of course, combining acupuncture and moxibustion yields even better outcomes.
