Regular Ear Massage for Health and Vitality
TCM holds that the ears are closely related to the zang-fu organs, meridians, and glands. Any bodily disorder can be reflected via meridians onto corresponding areas of the auricle. Regularly exercising both ears through massage, stretching, and stimulation can promote blood and lymph circulation, enhance tissue metabolism, regulate organ and system functions, and achieve the goal of strengthening the body and improving vitality.
(1) Pinching and Rubbing the Ear Tip: Use the pads of both index and thumb fingers to pinch, rub, and shake the tip of the ear for half a minute. This has calming, pain-relieving, and brain-clearing effects.
(2) Pinching and Popping the Earlobe: Use the pads of both index and thumb fingers to gently pinch and rub both earlobes for half a minute until they redden and warm up. Then pull the earlobe downward and release it, letting it return to original shape. This method promotes blood circulation, delays age-related hearing loss, and reduces tinnitus.
(3) Pulling the Entire Ear: With the right hand, wrap around the back of the head and use the index and thumb to lift the ear tip upward, pulling the left ear 36 times. Switch hands and repeat with the left hand. This method enhances immune function, stimulates secretion from submandibular and sublingual glands, protects vision, relieves throat pain, and helps prevent chronic pharyngitis.
(4) Sweeping Both Ears with Hands: Use both palms to sweep the ears forward from behind, then sweep backward when returning. This activates the immune system, strengthens resistance to disease, clears the mind, nourishes the kidneys, and balances yin and yang.

(5) Hand Rubbing Along the Auricular Rim: Form both hands into fists, then use the index and thumb to rub up and down along the rim of the ear for dozens of times until the area becomes red and warm. This method nourishes the liver and kidneys.
(6) Massaging the Ear Screen: Use the pads of index and thumb fingers to pinch and rub the ear screen (central part of the ear), regardless of concave or convex surfaces, for half a minute. Focus on massaging the concha cavity and concha bowl—areas corresponding to the heart, lungs, respiratory tract, and digestive and urinary systems. Then insert the middle fingers of both hands into the ear canal, with fingertips pointing forward toward the inner screen, rotating 2–3 times clockwise and counterclockwise before withdrawing. Repeat several times. This method regulates qi and blood, opens the nine orifices, benefits the five zang organs, enhances beauty, and slows aging.
