Preventing and Treating Cold via Massage Techniques

Everyone has had a cold. Mild cases present with nasal congestion, runny nose, headache; severe cases involve chills, fever, and general fatigue. Due to its high incidence rate and potential for complications, it must be taken seriously. Tuina massage not only prevents colds but also treats them.
Prevention:
1. Rub Yingxiang: In the morning upon waking or before bedtime, use the large fish际 (the fleshy part on the thumb side of the hand) to rub the Yingxiang acupoints beside the nostrils 200 times.
2. Face Bathing: Sit or lie supine, use the palm roots to rub the face up and down 100 times.
3. Massage Baihui: Sit upright, place the palm center over the Baihui acupoint at the top of the head, and gently massage for about 2 minutes.
4. Rub Yongquan: Sit, use the small fish际 (the fleshy part on the little finger side of the hand) to rub the Yongquan acupoint on the sole of the foot for 1 minute.
Treatment:
1. Rub Fengchi: Sit upright, wrap both hands around the head, and use both thumbs to knead the Fengchi acupoints at the back of the neck until a sensation of soreness spreads throughout the body—perform for 2 minutes.
2. Grasp Jianjing: Sit upright, have someone else grasp the muscle-rich area of the shoulders with both hands, applying pressure until a sense of soreness spreads through the entire body—repeat for several dozen times.
3. Massage the Back: Sit upright, use the palm roots to slowly stroke along both sides of the spine from top to bottom, aiming for a warming sensation—about 2 minutes.
4. Rub Dazhui: Sit upright, slightly lower your head, and use the middle finger to firmly knead the Dazhui acupoint (the highest protruding vertebra when you bend forward), continuing until the skin turns red—about 2 minutes.
