Bloating? Try Massaging Your Shoulders
Point Jianli Acupoint
Some people, after a long day of hard work, feel extremely hungry and eat heartily, then immediately lie down to sleep. The next day they experience bloating like a drum, belching, and acid reflux. Others, in haste to travel, eat while walking in cold winds and soon feel abdominal distension. For bloating caused by such bad habits, try the following tuina techniques:
1. Grasp Hegu: Sit upright, use one hand’s index and thumb to pinch the Hegu acupoint (the highest point of the tiger’s mouth) forcefully for dozens of times.
2. Grasp Jianjing: Patient sits upright; someone else uses both hands to lift the muscle-rich shoulder area for dozens of times.
3. Press Jianli Acupoint: Lie supine; someone else presses the Jianli acupoint (3 cun above the navel) with their middle finger while simultaneously using arm strength to tremble—about half a minute.
4. Massage Abdomen: Patient lies supine; stack both palms over each other, rotate clockwise around the navel, massaging the middle and lower abdomen until warmth is felt inside—about 2 minutes.
5. Rub Zusanli and Taichong Acupoints: Sit upright, use the thumb to press and knead Zusanli (3 cun below the outer knee cap) and Taichong (just below the highest point of the foot).
