One, Syndrome Differentiation
Sudden onset, itching wheals of varying shapes, appearing and disappearing alternately, or sudden patches forming, merging into sheets. May worsen or improve with weather changes. Acute cases resolve rapidly. Based on clinical symptoms, several types are identified.
1. Wind-Heat Type
Main Manifestations: Red wheals, intense skin itching, floating rapid pulse.
2. Wind-Damp Type
Main Manifestations: Pale or white wheals, accompanied by heavy limbs, white greasy coating, floating relaxed pulse.
3. Intestinal Heat Accumulation
Main Manifestations: Large wheals, accompanied by epigastric pain, constipation or diarrhea, thin yellow coating, rapid pulse.
Two, Treatment
Apply dispersion method to expel wind and dampness, clear blood heat. Primarily select points along the spleen and large intestine meridians. Local plum blossom needle tapping is also effective.
Prescription: Quchi (LI11), Hegu (LI4), Weizhong (BL40), Xuehai (SP10), Sanyinjiao (SP6).
For wind-heat: Add Dazhui (GV14); for wind-damp: Add Yinlingquan (SP9); for intestinal heat accumulation, simultaneously needle Tianshu (ST25) and Zusanli (ST36).
