Twelve Simple Daily Health Preservation Techniques

🔑 Keywords: Other · TCM Health Preservation
1. Hair Combing: Use any comb or fingers. Comb hair dozens to hundreds of times daily. This massages the scalp, clears the mind, and benefits vision and hearing.
2. Drumming Ears: Press palms tightly against both ears for several seconds, then quickly release. This vibrates the eardrums and slows ear degeneration. You may also massage ears using rubbing, pinching, or tapping techniques—immediately relieving headaches, motion sickness, and other discomforts. Regular ear massage helps prevent colds in weak individuals.
3. Eye Rubbing: Use soft parts of your hand to gently rub eyes and surrounding areas. This promotes circulation around the eyes, improves vision, refreshes the mind, and has cosmetic benefits.
4. Nose Pinching: Frequently rub the Yingxiang acupoints beside the nostrils with index fingers, or pinch the nose. This enhances smell sensitivity and reduces risks of nasal allergies or respiratory infections.
5. Tooth Clenching: Lightly tap teeth together or chew air. This prevents gum recession and periodontal disease. It also stimulates cheek muscles, keeping cheeks full and preventing sagging.
6. Swallowing Saliva: Close mouth, rinse with water several times, then swallow. Unoxidized saliva has a sweet taste, not bad odor. Saliva contains digestive enzymes and nutrients—regular swallowing aids digestion.
7. Neck Rotation and Shoulder Shrugging: The neck and shoulders contain vertebrae and major blood vessels leading to the head. Rotating the neck and shrugging shoulders helps keep muscles active, significantly reducing the risk of cerebrovascular disease in old age.
8. Dry Rubbing: Use hands or a dry towel to rub the face and exposed skin areas like arms. This boosts surface circulation and keeps skin smooth and hydrated.
9. Shoulder Slapping: Swing left hand to slap right shoulder, then right hand to slap left shoulder alternately. You may also alternate slapping legs with palms.
10. Waist Rotation: Extend right hand downward toward left foot tip while bending forward, then rise and repeat with left hand toward right foot tip. Alternate several times.
11. Fist Clenching: Clench both hands tightly, then relax. Repeat several times—can be done standing or sitting.
12. Toe Tapping: Step on the left toe with the right heel, then step on the right toe with the left heel. Alternate several times.
