Use congee (rice porridge) to调理 when unwell

Use congee (rice porridge) to调理 when unwell
In spring, as in other seasons, mild discomfort can be managed through proper diet. Among various methods, consuming medicinal congee is simple, practical, and effective for disease prevention.
Leek Congee:
First, place 100 grams of washed rice in a pot and boil with water. Then add 550 grams of washed and chopped leeks, and cook until a porridge forms. Consume as needed in the morning and evening. Leeks are rich in vitamins A, B, C, sugars, and proteins, and possess flavor-enhancing and antibacterial properties. Due to their hot nature and ability to boost yang energy, leeks are unsuitable for individuals with yin deficiency or skin sores.
Celery Congee:
Wash celery including roots. Use 150 grams per serving, simmer with water, extract the juice, then mix with 100 grams of rice to cook into porridge. Consume as needed in the morning and evening. In spring, yang energy in the liver tends to rise easily, often causing headaches, dizziness, and red eyes. Regular consumption of celery congee helps lower blood pressure and reduce irritability, particularly beneficial for patients and elderly individuals.
Mint Congee:
Take 15 grams of mint, decoct into tea, let cool. Cook 50 grams of rice into porridge, and just before finishing, add an appropriate amount of rock sugar, then reboil for one or two minutes. Consume warm during breakfast or dinner. In traditional Chinese medicine, mint is used as a diaphoretic and fever-reducing agent. Elderly people in spring can benefit from mint congee by clearing the heart, calming the spirit, dispersing wind-heat, stimulating appetite, and aiding digestion.
Ginseng Berries Congee:
Use 50 grams of ginseng berries and 100 grams of rice, cook together into porridge. Consume as needed in the morning and evening. Ginseng berries are sweet and neutral in nature, acting on the liver and kidney meridians. They are a dual-purpose food and medicine for nourishing the liver and kidneys. Additionally, ginseng berry congee helps lower blood glucose and cholesterol, protects the liver, and promotes regeneration of liver cells.
